New Bears starting their second EBEL chapter

Medvescak starts it's fifth season in EBEL with new coach and 15 new players.

After four weeks of preseason and few weeks more of completing the roster, new EBEL season starts tomorrow for Medvescak with away game in Villach. After four years, the Bears are back in EBEL and will start their new journey in Stadthalle Arena at 07:15PM tomorrow.

Connor Cameron will lead the team in their fifth EBEL season as a head coach after he spent last year as an assistant coach in the coaching staff of Gordie Dwyer. Sports director Aaron Fox and coach Cameron signed fifteen new players, and by that, we mean players that never played for Medvescak senior or youth team.

Nathan Perkovich will be team captain in the new season and Gasper Kroselj will defend Medvescak' goal. Besides them, only David Brine, Tom Zanoski and Saso Rajsar played for Medvescak in EBEL.

In their first four EBEL seasons Medvescak made it to the playoffs every year. In 2010 and 2012 the Bears played in the semifinals. In five preseason games Medvescak lost only one game and that was against Villach in Stadthalle Arena. They won against Lyon (2:1), Nove Zamky (2:0), Fehervar (5:2) and Lausitzer (3:1).

Medvescak and Villach played 22 games in EBEL and tomorrow the Bears will try to win their ninth game vs VSV. They played their last match in EBEL on 22nd Feburary 2013 in Zagreb when Medvescak won 3:0 and David Brine assisted for every goal!

Villach won their only EBEL title in 2006 when their coach was Greg Holst who manages VSV today. It will be his ninth season as Villach head coach. They have 14 Austrian players and five Canadian players on the roster. Ben Walter is one to watch out for. He played 24 games in NHL and has two EBEL titles with Salzburg.
