On February 17, 2018, a selection of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga participates in ALL STAR CUP in Bratislava
For the first time All Star teams of four European leagues meet each other. In addition to Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, the Czech and Slovak Extraliga as well as German DEL take part.
Following two successful All Star events in Slovakia, the idea of an international event was discussed at the Hockey Europe meeting during the World championship in Cologne. Those responsible of all four leagues quickly agreed on the mode and and rules which were presented in a common press conference in Bratislava. It's a 3 on 3 tournament with round-robin. The matches will last 2 x 15 minutes and each team will have 12 skaters and 2 goalies with the maximum number of seven imports. Alongside the trophy cup, the exhibition winner will take home a prize money of EUR 25.000. "I'm really pleased that Erste Bank Eishockey Liga is among the first contact partners for such projects. It shows the high status of our league. From the geographical point of view and from the point of view of a healthy rivalry, the cooperation of our four leagues has turned out to be optimal. There will be lots of thrilling games as the Czechs and the Slovaks like to compete against, the same applies to the Austrians and the Germans. I believe that the fans of quality hockey will really enjoy this extraordinary exhibition", report Christian Feichtinger, general manager of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.
The All Star 2018 weekend program will start at 1pm outside the Ondrej Nepela ice arena in Bratislava, where the organisers are promising a huge fan zone with accompanying program. “We have prepared some accompanying events, a rich cultural program, concerts, contests and lots of attractions for the fans,” says Richard Lintner, managing director of Tipsport League. The tickets for fans are available at predpredaj.sk
as of today, 13 September, in the range of EUR 15 to EUR 30.
