The Bears outplayed the current champion!

With convincing 4:1 win, and with excellent saves of the newly arrived goalkeeper Poulin, Medveščak outplayed the leading team of EBEL...

Medveščak is the first team that managed to beat Vienna Capitals in regular time in this EBEL season, with a convincing win 4:1 (1-0, 2-1, 1-0).

Medveščak came to lead in 12th minute with a goal by Tomaš Netik. This was also 800th Medveščak's goal in EBEL league!

The guests equalized in 25th minute through Sharp, who managed to push the pack past the new Medveščak's goalie Kevin Poulin. But the 27-year-old Canadian already proved in his first appearance that he is certainly going to be one of the leading players of Zagreb team, because he managed to save 50 shots!

The job was done by the double scorer Samson Mahbod, and triple assistant Tyler Morley. Mahbod hit the net for 2:1 in the 34th minute, when the Bears had powerplay situation. In the 36th minute, Norwegian Sandre Olden raised the home team lead to 3:1, and the Viennese resistance was crushed in the 57th minute, when Morley's shot in a counterattack was stopped by the goalkeeper Tuokkola. But Mahbod was the first to slid to the rebound puck and hit the unprotected net, for the final score 4:1.

With this win, Medveščak climbed to the 9th place, with 18 points from 13 games. The Bears are now lagging behind the 6th KACers only three points. Vienna is still in the lead, with 37 points.

Medveščak host Austrian Innsbruck tomorrow (Friday, October 27th, at 7:15 pm) in the Ice Hall.
