Marcel Rodman is leaving his position as an assistant coach and VP. of Hockey Operations for Medveščak Zagreb. He will be a new Head Coach and Sports Director for HDD Jesenice.
He joined the coaching team for Zagreb this season before he was also a player for the Bears during their season in the KHL.
The two-time Olympian also played in 8 World Championships for Slovenia.
He will return to his hometown as he grew up playing for HK Jesenice during his youth career and during his professional one.
Medveščak Zagreb would live to wish Marcel all the best in his future and best of luck with coaching Jesenice!
Statement from Marcel Rodman: “I got an opportunity to coach at my home town, where I grew up, learned to play hockey. I will also take over as a sport director, so I just could not say no to this opportunity. I would like to thank everyone at Medveščak I worked with and am also grateful I had a chance to learn. I learned a lot and it will help me down the road. I wish the club, the office personnel, coaching staff and all the players lots of health and success in the future."
The head coach Aaron Fox said the following: “Obviously Marcel was offered an opportunity to move back home and take the Head Coach/Sports Director position for Jesenice. I am really happy for him and wish him all the best. This is an opportunity he could not pass up.”
