EBEL champion and Norway international new faces in the Den

In Medvescak's Den there are two new players, Norway international Sondre Olden and Canadian Michael Boivin, former player of Red Bull Salzburg, Graz 99ers and Alba Volan.

Olden is a 24-year-old wing player who comes to Medvescak from Swedish SHL where he played his last season for Leksands. Olden played for three years in the SHL and besides Leksands, Norway international played for Brynas and MODO Hockey and picked up 106 appearences.

„Sondre is a big strong two way forward who has played as an import in the top Swedish League the last two seasons. He was a top scorer in Norway before he went to Sweden and we think that he will have a chance to return his scoring touch in the EBEL. We are looking forward to adding another player who was playing in top European leagues“, Medvescak Sports Director Aaron Fox said.

Olden also played in his home country for Valerenga where he racked up 41 goal and 60 assists in 94 games played. Olden also had a one season episode in the Canadian OHL where he collected 48 appearences for Erie Otters. It was Olden's only trip to the North-American soil even though he was selected in the NHL Draft in 2010 by Toronto Maple Leafs as a 79th pick in the third round.

Michael Boivin is a 26-year-old Canadian defensman with the experience of playing EBEL and winning the same competition in 2014 with Red Bull Salzburg.

After playing in junior BCHL where Boivin had 36 points in 82 games, he joined Colorado College and played 122 games in four seasons. In his last season in the NCAA, Boivin was selected in the NCAA (WCHA) second All-Star team.

„Mike is an offensive defenseman who brings some EBEL experience to our locker room.  He has 53 points in 100 career EBEL games and knows the league very well. He should come in and contribute right away and give us a very reliable option to play big minutes“ added Aaron Fox.
