KLUB HOKEJA NA LEDUMEDVEŠČAKZAGREB
ICE HOCKEY CLUB
Kevin Poulin was born in 1990 in Montreal, Canada. He started as a junior in Victoriaville Tigers, a club playing in one of the strongest development leagues in Quebec. In 2008 he was drafted by New York Islanders in the 5th round of the draft, as a 126th choice in total.
Poulin started his professional career in 2010 in a subsidiary of Islanders, a club from AHL, Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He was saving the net in AHL, with occasional appearances in the world strongest league at the Islanders goal, where he took part 50 games with 90% saves. In AHL he played 185 games for Bridgeport, Syracuse and Stockton, with 91.2% saves.
In last year season he decided to try his luck outside of North America, and he signed for a team from Kazakhstan competing in KHL, Barys from Astana. For the »Snow Leopards« he took part in 14 games with 91% saves.
He is a goalkeeper with the experience in the world strongest leagues, and he will be a great Medveščak reinforcement for the rest of the season.
With Poulin's arrival, the team terminated the current cooperation with the first goalkeeper Gašper Krošelj.
»We decided to terminate Krošelj's contract early. The plan was to have him in the team as the best goalkeeper for us, who brings only 2 points at the team roster. However, the plan was not achieved in that way. Krošelj had many chances to demonstrate and prove his qualities and readiness, but he failed. We decided that it's time for a change, because we can see the team's commitment and strength, and from our first goalkeeper we need consistency and certainty. We wish all the best to Krošelj in his further career«, explained the Medveščak's sports director Aaron Fox.
The new goalkeeper will join the roster already tomorrow.
