With their 5:2 win over Czech Znojmo yesterday, the Bears secured direct entry to the EBEL playoffs, among the top 6 teams, and the cycle of qualifiers is in front of them, followed by the playoffs itself. By reaching the top 6, the Bears are also the only non-Austrian team to secure direct entry to the playoffs.
Even though it was planed and announced for February 4th, this season's Winter Classic event, a game on Zagreb open air skating ring Šalata, is not going to take place, because it was impossible to arrange all the important factors for the event, that include the only possible schedule, i.e. the single possible day and time for the game, inability to organize TV transmission of the game, which is very important because of the event partners and club sponsors, and the consent of the league and the guest team; therefore, the event could not be organized as planned.
The game on February 4th that Medveščak plays with EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz will take place in the Ice Hall of Zagreb Dom sportova.
For the above reasons, the return of Winter Classic event will unfortunately have to wait for the next season.
The Bears play their first qualifier away on February 2nd in Vienna. Their first home qualifier is in the Ice Hall on Sunday, February 4th, with EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz.
Tickets for the home qualifier games will be on sale starting from Wednesday, January 31st at noon, on all Ticketshop points of sale, and on their web shop http://www.ticketshop.hr. The basic price of the daily ticket is 30 kuna.
