The Bears defeated the Vienna Capitals for the second time in eight days. After beating them 4:3 in a shootout in the Salata Winter Classic last Saturday, this Saturday they celebrated in Vienna, again after a shootout. The game ended in 2:3 (0:1, 1:1, 1:0 - 0:1).
Zagreb's boys took the lead in the 16th minute in a powerplay thanks to Mark Katic, and the game was then tied at 1:1 by Ali Wukovits in the 35th minute. Four minutes later, Erik Nystrom put the Bears back in the lead. The Viennese tied it up again in the 51st minute with the help of Justin Keller, and the game came down to a shootout. The winning goal came from Bill Thomas.
The Bears play their final friendly game before they get back into the rest of the regular KHL season on Sunday when they will be hosted by the Graz 99ers. The game starts at 4:30 in the Liebenau Hall. Over the past four season while they were still in EBEL, Medvescak played a total of 28 games against Graz, winning 11 and losing 17 (3 in overtime, 2 in a shootout).
