The last two seasons Christian Engstrand was Linkoping's main goalie.
Medvescak has brought another goalie into their lineups: 25-year-old Christian Engstrand. This will be the Swedes premiere season in the Kontinental Hockey League.
"With Engstrand the club gets another goalie that can play at the KHL level. He understands the situation here, that he's going to have to fight for his position and will have to wait for his chance to play and help us win. But despite that, he wants to come here and work hard. We have sixty games ahead of us in the regular season, along with the Spengler Cup, so we need another high quality goalie", said Medvescak's director of athletics Aaron Fox.
Christian Engstrand was born in 1988 in Linkoping (Sweden). He developed his hockey roots with Linkoping, signing his first professional contract with them in 2007-08. That season and in 2008-09 Linkoping lent him to Oskarsham in Sweden's B League, and then he was back to his original club in 2009-10 playing his first games in the SHL. Over the next two seasons he played with Linkoping and did brief stints with Troja-Ljungbyj and Almtun (Allsvenskan). The last two seasons Engstrand was Linkoping's main goalie with a 93.6% save average and a 1.89 goals against average in 2012-13, along with a 90.3% save average and 2.79 GAA in 2013-14.
