An accomplished KHL player, Canadian goalie with NHL experience, Michael Garnett joins Medvescak team. For the past nine seasons he has played in the KHL, with the first season over being in Russian Superleague as a member of Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, he was chosen to three KHL All Star Games, played in two Gagarin Cup Finals and won the Continental Cup in 2011/12 with Traktor Chelyabinsk.
Saskatoon born, he spend his junior career with WHL teams Red Deer Rebels and Saskatoon Blades. In a season after the Atlanta Trashers picked him in the third round of 2011 NHL Entry Draft, he helped the Blades win WHL Championship.
He forged his skill in the AHL's Chicago Wolves and made NHL debut in October 2005, during a game between Atlanta Trashers and Montreal Canadiens. He played a total of 24 NHL games that season, posting a .885%sv and 3.44 GAA.
Two season later he came over to Russian ice and since then has played for Neftekhimik, MVD Balashikha, Traktor and Slovan Bratislava. He has 384 KHL games under his belt with a average .916%sv and 2.28 GAA.
He stood in goal against Medvescak twice. Both games were played in Chalyabinsk and Traktor won in both of them (2:4;5:1).
Garnett, a fan favourite no matter where he plays, likes scuba diving and golfing in his free time, but most of all he like to fly. So much so, that he became a pilot.
