The Den was wrapped in holiday spirit as Medvescak's youngest hockey players, U8 team who participated in Zmajcek tournament in Ljubljana last weekend, created a memory to last a lifetime.
The air vibrated with excitement while our smallest hockey players waited for the moment to take the ice in Dom sportova accompanied by their idols. “We’re having a great time and are very happy to be here. We can’t wait to take to the ice,” 14 players were shouting from all directions.
Under the watchful eyes of proud parents and their coach, they warmed up before skating out in front of the home crowd.

In the tunnel, while they were waiting for their names to be called out, little Bears chatted with the big Bears and asked Tom Zanoski for a win tonight. Tom promised to give it his best and kept the promise.
“It was fun having the kids with us tonight. You could see how happy they are. I know how much it means to them because I remember how much it meant to me when I was their age and skated out in front of the crowd with the big team. The little goalie was alongside me and he was the cutest. I’d move my stick, he’d move his; I’d bend and he’d bend,” Michael Garnett said.
The little and big Bears stood together for the national anthems.
The honour to drop the ceremonial puck was given to the only female hockey player on U8 team, Petra. “It was very nice and I’m very happy. I didn’t really know what to do when I was left alone on the ice and I was a bit shy, but it was great,” Petra said.
