Medvescak lost to Lev in the second-last game of the regular season, but they aren't leaving Prague empty-handed. They earned a point in a tight game that ended in 2:1 in overtime.
Both teams started the game with a high tempo, trying hard to secure the lead, but also earning some penalties. In the 4th minute Medvescak's Sasa Martinovic got two minutes for roughing as did Lev's Petr Vrana. Eight minutes later the first net was rattled in Prague's Tipsport Arena. Michael Ryan got past Lev's defence and scored on a rebound.
''This is a hard loss for us, but right now every point is huge. We knew that this would be a big and important game and that it would be like a playoff one. This was the fastest game we've played this season. Lev are a really good and fast team. They took a lot of shots and had a lot of opportunities to score'', said goalie Dekanich.
Lev were significantly more ferocious in the second period. Prague's players took 19 shots at Mark Dekanich, but Medvescak's goalie repeated his performance from last Friday in Moscow against CSKA. He remained completely focused and turned every shot into a mere attempt at goal. The final period didn't determine a winner since Dex, who made 43 saves in 60 minutes, once again stood undefeatably in front of Medvescak's net. The game went into overtime, and a minute and 58 seconds in Martin Thornberg secured two points for the home team.
