Former top AHL tandem Krog - Haydar together again

The last time they played on the same team was in 2010-11, while 2014-15 will see them tackling the KHL in their debuts in the league.

Medvescak has once again, just as they did last season with Ryan Vesce and Charles Linglet, brought together two forwards - Jason Krog and Darren Haydar. Krog and Haydar's paths first crossed in college where they both played for the University of New Hampshire, and then continued to cross in the AHL, seeing them win the Calder Cup together. The last time they played on the same team was in 2010-11, while 2014-15 will see them tackling the KHL in their debuts in the league.
Jason Krog was born in 1975 in Fernie (B.C., Canada). He plays center, and his first professional contract was signed in 1999-00 with the New York Islanders (NHL), and that was as an undrafted player! Throughout his professional career he's played with the NHL's New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, Atlanta Thrashers, New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks, the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters, Providence Bruins, Springfield Falcons, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Chicago Wolves, Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, and Manitoba Moose, and for European teams Villach (EBEL), Genève-Servette (NLA), Frölunda (SHL), and HV71 (SHL). In the 2006-07 season Krog hit the ice with Haydar again with the Chicago Wolves, which helped the Wolves win the Calder Cup the following season. With 112 points in the regular season and 38 in the playoffs, Krog crowned the champion title with numerous recognitions - the AHL's best shooter, best assists, best player by point, most valuable player in the regular season. That was his best professional career season.
''Jason is a highly skilled center man who was a prolific scorer at the AHL level.  He is getting up there in age, but he's in good shape and has a strong character. He is a great leader and we are excited that he will be part of our team and that he will get to play with one of his favourite teammates again. Jason and Darren were one of the best tandems to ever play together in the AHL. We've gotten a great offensive player  and a strong character to help us do our best in our second season", said Medvescak's sports director Aaron Fox.
Darren Haydar was born in 1979 in Milton (Ontario, Canada). He plays right wing, and in 199 he was the 248th NHL draft pick for the Nashville Predators. Unlike Krog, Haydar only played 28 games in the NHL (Nashville Predators, Atlanta Thrashers, Colorado Avalanche), but has two Calder Cups under his belt - from the 2003-04 season with the Milwaukee Admirals and from 2007-08 as captain of the wolves.  Just like Krug, Haydar also won numerous awards in the 2006-07 season - AHL best assists, best player by points, best shooter in the playoffs, and the league's most valuable player. He spent four seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals, five with the Chicago Wolves (2+3), and one each with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL), Lake Erie Monsters (AHL), and with EHC Munchen (DEL), and also played in the Spengler Cup with Team Canada.
''Darren is a gifted offensive player and when an opponent gives him even a bit of space he will use it against him. He played in Munich last season and for team Canada in the Spengler Cup and is looking to build his European experience. He is also looking forward to being reunited with his favorite center, and they both feel like they have something to prove.  He has won two Calder Cups and one season he was the most valuable player in the playoffs. We feel his playoff experience will prove to be important for us this upcoming season'', said Fox.
