Medvescak's young forward Gal Koren, who was in his third season with the Bears, will be transferring to Olimpija.
''Gal Koren is no longer a member of KHL Medvescak Zagreb and will continue his career with Ljubljana's Telemach Olimpija. Gal was looking for an opportunity to play more, and saw Olipija and EBEL as a great way to develop his career and to play as much as possible, which is important for the games in the Olympics and his possibility to play on the Slovenian national team. The contract was ended mutually, and we wish Gal Koren all the best in his future career endeavours. We part ways on good terms, and the club's doors will always be open to him since he was a true professional and for everything that he gave to the club playing for Medvescak!'', stated Medvescak's director of athletics Aaron Fox.
Twenty-one year-old Gal Koren arrived in the Bear den in the 2011/2012 season, and played 90 games in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League over the past two seasons. This was his, and also the Bears', premiere season in the KHL, and he played 23 games and scored once.
In 2013 he debuted on Slovenia's senior representation for two games at the World Championship Elite Group. Aside from Medveščak, Koren also played for HC Česke Budejovice U18 (Czech U18), Jungadler Mannheim U18 (DNL), and the Kelowna Rockets (WHL).
