Medvescak's new roster move was made at the forwards position. Canadian born American, Colorado Avanalche's second pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Terry Jospeh Galiardi is a new member of the Den.
“We will be replacing McMillan with TJ Galiardi. TJ is a similar type of player who will work, battle and compete for us and we expect him to bring a lot to the club. He has played at the NHL level and also in Europe last year in Sweden. We will look forward to getting him into town and into our lineup as soon as possible,“ Medvescak's Sports Director Aaron Fox said while announcing the trade.
After seven years of playing in the NHL, Galiardi spent the last season playing for Malmö Redhawks of the Swedish Hockey League. He made 29 appearances and tallied 15 points. It was his second move to Europe after playing in the second NHL lockout season for German Bietigheim Steelers, but that trip was cut short due to an injury.
This 1988 born center who can play wing made his NHL debut in 2008/09 for the Avalanche where he stayed the next three season playing in 177 games and collecting 74 points.
Colorado traded him to San Jose at the trade deadline and he stayed there for 40 games of the regular season and 14 playoff games.
He returned to his hometown, Calgary, five years after he played for the local WHL team, Calgary Hitmen. This time, the Flames signed him and he put 4 goals and 13 assists through 62 games. He spent his seventh season as a member of the Winnipeg Jets.
