Hungarian national team member Janos Vas made a short and clear announcement on his Facebook page:
This won't be Janos Vas' first time in the Den. Six years ago he got to know Medvescak and its fans really well. But unlike before when he was wearing the Sapa Fehervar AV19 jersey, this time he's fighting to wear the blue Medvescak jersey.
Last season Vas played for Prague's Slavia in the Czech Extraliga (18 points), and throughout his pro career he's played for Malmo, Halmstad Hammers, Iowa Stars, Idaho Steelheads, Brynas, Tingsryds AIF, Troja-Ljungby, Dijon, Rouen, and the already mentioned Sapa Fehervar. He's been a member of the Hungarian national team for years, and took part in the World Championship Division I Group A and Group B with them, boasting a gold medal, four silvers, and three bronze.
While Vas will try to stand out in the preseason, Medvescak's goalie Cal Heeter is picking up where he left off last season as he returns to the Den. Heeter joined the Bears in November 2014 as a tryout player, but quickly stood out with his saves. His premiere season in the Bears' jersey, which was also his premiere season in the KHL, was marked by 1223:33 minutes of game play, throughout which he saves 555 of the 609 shots taken at him (91,1% SA), and fans selected him as the 'Generali Lion Heart' player of the game three times.
