Hockey connects business - Medvescak's business banquet for Croatian entrepreneurs in Moscow

Croatian Embassy in the Russian Federation, representatives of the Croatian chamber of commerce in the Russian Federation and representatives of the ice hockey club KHL MEDVESCAK Zagreb hosted a business banquet for Croatian entrepreneurs that operate in the Russian Federation.

The banquet was held on the 15th of October 2015. in the Croatian Embassy in Moscow with the purpose of presenting Croatian companies on the Russian market via sports events: more specifically, through Medvescak competing in the Russian KHL.

Guests were greeted by Rina Eterović Goreta, temporary manager of Croatian affairs in the Russian Federation, president of the hockey club Medvescak, Damir Gojanović, and the director of the branch office of the Croatian chamber of commerce in the Russian Federation. Jakov Despot.

Ms. Eterović Goreta thanked the leaders of the Medvescak hockey club and the Croatian Chamber of commerce for the initiative they’ve shown and stated that the Croatian embassy in the Russian Federation is always glad to help any possibility for promotion of our interests.

She pointed out the importance of Medvescak and its success in the KHL in promoting Croatian not only in the Russian Federation, but throughout every country that has a club competing in the KHL. This event gives the possibility of deeper business and friendly connections for the benefit of Croatian sports and commerce as well as helping to increase the visibility of our country in every country taking part in the KHL.

“Medvescak competes with 27 other clubs from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Finland, and Slovakia in the KHL. They play most of their games in the Russian Federation. Because of that and with the knowledge gained from the experience of our partners, especially Podravka, we believe that Medveščak, as a successful and well known sports collective, is an excellent ambassador for promoting Croatian companies on the Russian market, through presenting products and services, but also connecting local entrepreneurs who support other clubs in the KHL” pointed out Medvescak’s president Damir Gojanović, adding that today’s formula for a responsible and successful management of a sports project, but also business success, is actively connecting sports and business through a joint model, in other words, a result beneficiary to all the partners. Gojanović mentioned that this meeting is a logical continuation after the business meeting of Croatian and Finnish entrepreneurs that was hosted by KHL Medvescak less than a year ago in Zagreb, in partnership with the Finnish embassy and the Croatian Chamber of commerce. The partnership between Medveščak and the Croatian Chamber of commerce started last year, with the acknowledgement of the Zagreb hockey clubs efforts in using sports success for business diplomacy for a few years now. Connecting commerce and sports has a positive effect on business and the Croatian Chamber of commerce will continue with developing those relations so that Croatian companies could make the most out of that potential.

The director of the branch office of the Croatian Chamber of commerce in the Russian Federation, Jakov Despot, showed his extreme satisfaction with Medvescaks participation in the Business club that helps representatives from the Croatian business community ensure a safe platform for exchange of information, experiences, and ideas connected with presentation on the Russian market. He believes that Medvescak's presented support in connecting sports and business will help general promotion of Croatian commerce in the Russian market and help ensure additional stimulus for development and development of the business partnership between Croatian and the Russian Federation in presenting Croatian export products in Russia, which totalled last year with more than two billion Croatian kuna (HRK).
