Returnees: Taylor and Genoway return to Medvescak

Two important pieces of Medvescak's team last season, two dynamic players, goaltender Danny Taylor and forward Colby Genoway, will be back in Bears' jersey.

A Canadian goaltender with British roots, Danny Taylor, earned himself a titule of the best goalie of November in the KHL last year with some great performances, and in the new season he will put all his focus on guarding Medvescak's net.

“Danny had a great season for us last year and as a staff we feel very comfortable knowing that we have a goalie coming back who can give us a chance to win every night. He plays the puck extremely well and is a true pro. With him and Niko we feel very comfortable with our goalie position to start the year,” Aaron Fox, Medvescak's Sports Director said while announcing the transfer.

Taylor first joined Medvescak last summer and played in 38 games in the KHL, or better yet, he spent 2079 minutes on ice with a 92,4% save percentage and 2,28 GAA. He had three shoutouts and two assists. He finished the season in Czech Extraliga with Sparta Prague.

The second returnee, Colby Genoway, is best remembered for his extraordinary shootout move in the games against Metallurg Novokuznetsk last September in the Ice Hall.

But, the move that stole the spotlight is only a part of what Genoway brought to the team last season. Responsibility at his own end, good vision and the ability to play a variety of forward positions made him into one of the pillars of last season's team.

“Colby is another guy who brings back some versatility for us. We felt he came in last year and took him a bit to figure out how to be successful in the league but he really took a step later in year and thought he was one of our best players the last 15-20 games. We are looking forward to having him back with a year under his belt to see him improve on last year’s numbers,” said Fox on return of Genoway.

Genoway played 48 games for Medvescak last season tallying four goals and 12 assists. He has also played against his brother for the first time since both of them turned pro. He will have a chance to do it again this season when the Bears will face off against SKA. He finished his season in Swiss Fribourg-Gotteron after five games in the playoffs.
