Preparations for the new 2016/2017 KHL season are underway. Putting together the team is in full swing and among the first returning players are seven who will continue on wearing Medvescak jersey.
On the ice of the Den we will once again watch defensemen Blake Parlett, Mark Katic and Shaone Morrisonn; and forwards Alexandre Bolduc, Edwin Hedberg, Tom Zanoski and. With these players a part of last years' core has been kept together, though the job there is not done yet, according to announcements, and foundations for the team have been laid.
“I am happy to announce that with this group of guys returning we're onto a great start in putting together what we hope to be another competitive club for 2016/2017 KHL season. We are working on bringing a few other key players back as well, and bringing in other adequate and available players to strengthen our team. We hope to have those done in the next couple of weeks,” said Aaron Fox, Medvescak’s sports director while announcing the return of these players.
Katic has been a part of Medvescak’s line-up since the Club joined the KHL. This will be his fourth season and in his third he has played in 52 games collecting ten points.
Morrisonn, Medvescak’s pillar of defense in the past two seasons, will repeat his role in the next one. He played in 51 games last season, tallying seven points and scoring his first goal as a member of the Bears.
Parlett has recorded 38 appearances for Medvescak, mostly in the second part of the season, through which he found his place in defense and assisted in scoring seven goals.
Hedberg was given a bigger role in his second season in Medvescak and through 58 games tallied 18 points.
Zanoski, the owner of the Bears’ first goal of the season last year, returned to the team and this will be his second KHL season. In his first 15 games in the KHL he scored three goals.
Brule was the one of the players who got sent on the ice during the most important moments of the game. 24 points through 54 games are only a small part of what he brings to the team.
Bolduc joined the team in the middle of the season, played in 28 games, scored two goals and assisted six times.
