The Bears lost 1:4 to Torpedo in the second game played in Dom Sportova this season.
The game started heating up in the 10th minute when the ref gave Sergej Bernacki two minutes for holding up the game. Despite being down a player, Vyacheslav Kulyomin put Torpedo in the lead. Shortly after being scored on, the Bears started applying pressure in front of Torpedo's net, and two minutes later the puck made it past Ivan Kasutin. Pascal Pelletier played off Martin St. Pierre and Mark Flood and made it 1:1. A minute later the team from Nizhny Novgorod was back in the lead (Bernacki).
''Both teams had an equal amount of opportunities. Their special teams did a good job. Their first goal was shorthanded and about ten seconds into our powerplay, and they made use of their powerplay in the last period. Torpedo's goalie made a lot of really good saves. I liked our team's energy, and we had a lot of opportunities but we didn't manage to capitalize on them'', said Medvescak's Coach Chuck Weber.
Unlike in the first period, which saw three goals, the second was marked by penalties, and in the 31st minute things even got heated between Medvescak and Torpedo's players. Goalie Barry Brust got 5 minutes plus a disciplinary game penalty, and on the other side Kulyomin got two minutes. Brust had to leave the ice, and in went Mark Dekanich. In the final period Torpedo scored two more goals, one in a powerplay the other on an empty net.
The 'Lion Heart' award for the player of the game as voted by media representatives was given to Pascal Pelletier.
