Just two days after Medvescak fortified their lineups with goalie Alex Westlund, another player is coming to the Den: 21-year-old Canadian defenceman Ryan O'Connor.
"Ryan is going to give us some much needed depth to our blue line. Since he was born in '92, he will be able to start playing for our team right away without having to take any of our current players out of the game. Having that extra versatility to play seventh defenseman is something we have been looking for the past couple of months and we feel we finally found the right guy. He has been playing in the Swiss A as an import and in the Spengler Cup. He is game-ready and we are really excited to have him in our playoff push", said Medvescak's director of athletics, Aaron Fox.
Ryan O'Connor was born in 1992 in Hamilton (Ontario, Canada). He played his junior days in the OHL for the Barrie Colts and the Saginaw Spirit. He reached his best stats in the 2010-11 season when he earned 50 points in 65 games with Spirit, and in 2012-13 when he earned 53 points in 64 games, plus 8 in the playoffs, with the Colts. Last season he won with the Colts in the finals of the OHL's Eastern conference.
O'Connor signed his first professional contract in 2013 wirh Davos, with whom he played 16 games this season in the NLA and 3 in the Spengler Cup.
O'Connor has signed a contract with Medvescak until the end of the season.
